Blower Motor Resistor Question

My heater has been running at one speed for quite a while now. (2000 Silverado)Thanks to the help full tips on this forum I decided that I needed to replace the blower motor resistor. I now have all the speeds that I should, but the high speed seems slower then before. Has anyone else come across this problem ? Is it possible that my truck has a high output heater,which requires a different resistor? There were only two listed when I bought it. The only difference between them was the mounting screws set up. Also I should mention that the old resistor had obvious fry marks on it.

Did you check the integrity of the connector. Check it real close. A bad connector can cause a high resistance and burn out the new resistor. Some of the mfgs. sell the resistor and connector as a kit.

had the exact same problem on my 2006 Silverado 1500 crew. It was the connector. Take it apart and look in the connector to see if you see black or rust looking marks. This means there is arcing going on. If so, replace the connector. Don't buy it from the dealer! My dealer wanted $100 for the AC-Delco connector. I bought the exact connector new on E-Bay for $18.00. If I remember correct there are 5-6 wires you need to cut through and splice. You need to use shrink wrap too. It took me around 30 minutes to do the job. I think it took me longer to take the panels off to get to it, lol.
