Ok well i pretty much decided to get a line-x spray in liner, form read post on this forum, and talking to people in real life they seem to have the best one. i was quoted 505$ for under rail and 545$ for over rails. I ordered my silverado with the GM soft folding tonneu cover which required me to get rail protects from the factory. would it still be in my best interest and best for the truck to get the rails sprays or are the factory ones good enough? also i was quoted 75$/ wheel well to spray. None of the other post i read mentioned this and didn't even know i could do this until they told me so. Has anyone had this done? is it worth while to do?

A UV protection coat was also quoted to me for 150$ but judging by the forums its not really need + i have the tonneu cover so bedliner shouldn't be see to much sun i think.

I had an 04 Silverado crew with the factory bed rail protectors and had a soft tonneau on as well. On that truck the summer heat caused a warping of the oem rail and the sides in the middle of the rail bowed up along the edge where it met the bed.

Here's where posted on this years ago.

I know the 900 trucks that have factory bed rails are different and hopefully the plastic is of a higher quality. At any rate my current 11 did not have the factory rails and when I did my Linex I did over the rail; Linex won't warp, or if it somehow did it would be covered under warranty. But since you already have the factory rails I personally would not spray over them. (Or were you thinking of removing them?)

Spraying the wheel wells is an option. I think it makes lighter trucks look better if the wheel well is dark. Another option might be the rear wheel liners from GM. (I gave the Silverado part numbers Sierra is different) For $95 that is the way I'd go.

I agree if you're using a tonneau the Linex Premium probably isn't necessary as the liner won't see a lot of sun.

Good luck

I go mine Line-Xed, and am very happy with it. I also did the wheel wells, and am very glad I did them. It makes the truck, which is white, so much better. Check out the attached picture to see if it floats your boat.

My total was 650 cash.

Cheers, Brendan

The OEM bed rail protectors on my '04 Sierra are also somewhat warped, presumably from the Texas heat. I've thought about replacing them, but they still look pretty good and aren't my first priority. Anyway, a previous owner installed an Access soft rolling tonneau cover over a Line-X bedliner, so the bedliner still looks like new.

I had a Rhino liner sprayed in my previous truck, and it held up really well to abuse. I'm sure the Line-X will do the same. I didn't opt for spraying over the rails on my Rhino. When it's installed well (like 508gm1's truck in the pictures), I think it looks great.

The biggest difference I noticed between the two is that the Rhino was a very 'grippy' liner with its default texture, while the Line-X is very 'slick'. I'm sure you can specify which texture you'd like the installer to use, but each has its pros and cons. In my case, it was difficult to slide cargo on the Rhino, but it held things in place pretty well. The Line-X is just the opposite - easy to load, but you need to tie everything down. Something to consider...

ok Well thanks for the info, Believe the bed rails are required to attach the tonneu cover, the dealer didn't had any on the lot for me to check this out. The person at linex said if i sprayed the rail i would be able to have the factory ones installed over the spray. I guess i will wait and see what the quality of the bed rails are when the truck comes in. Still a couple weeks until it delivered. As for wheel well, my truck is black so if spraying them is mostly for appearance will not do it than. and as for UV protection will opt out of that as my bed would only be exposed to sunlight when loading or unloading it. Again thanks for the help

Don't get the UV protection on the bed liner since you have a cover. Also, since your truck is black, you might want to get the wheel wells sprayed also, or like mentioned earlier, get a set of wheel well liners. After a while, expecially if you drive on loose rocks/gravel frequently, your black wheel wells will look like they are polka dotted from rocks causing the paint in the wheel wells to chip. If you don't want to get Line-X to spray them, you can get some 3M undercoating spray and spray them yourself.

I have a 2010 Sierra, with the factory bed rail protectors, and got Line-X sprayed under the rail. No issues what so ever. If you can, ask them to not attach the Line-X "badge". Looks hokey when attached. My installer said to just keep it in the glovebox.

I had my bed Line-X'd this past week and forgot all about the "dreaded" Line-X sticker they usually put on the windows. Got back to pick it up and the sticker was laying on my center console. Got to checking out the spray job, and it looks like "LINE-X" was spelled out on the driver side of the bed with magnetic letters and then sprayed over. It doesn't look too bad...a lot better than some bright yellow sticker.

Had my new 2011 sprayed with the color-matched x-tra under the rails. They attached the "warranty" badge to the side of the bed and it's now hidden by the CMS rails. I also have the factory bed rail protectors on. Today I added the BakFlip F1.

This is my first truck, thus first LINE-X. I don't know how with, and without, the X-Tra compare in daily use, but I've hauled compost and mulch in the back. Simply spray it down with a hose, some light brushing, and it's looking like new.

The rail protectors use 3M tape to stick on. They probably WILL NOT stick for long to the LINE-X.

ok thanks alot, will probably get under the rails sprayed as it not much more than. probably just do the 3M spray for the wheel liners. As 300$ + tax seems a bit much to do the wheel wells, I image it wouldn't be very hard to do yourself and lot cheaper?
