1997 Vortec 454 Oil Issues

Hello All,

 

I have a 1997 Suburban K2500 454 that seems to have an oil pressure issue. When I start the truck oil pressure is up around 60psi, but when I drive it and it gets warm it drops badly. If I am sitting idle after it has warmed up it will pretty much sit right at 2-5psi. It worried me at first but them I listened for engine tap or any kind of top end noise and I did not hear anything. I am just looking for some thoughts here on what I could look at? I was thinking it could be the sending unit but not sure? Is there anywhere else on the block I can hook up a manual gauge to see if the gauge in the truck is bad? Thanks for any help

Could be the oil pressure sending unit.Or the cluster could be bad.

That's what I am thinking, is there a location on the block somewhere I can hook up a manual oil pressure gauge to see if it is one of those?

back of the block down past the intake its hard on a big block because of the huge plenum.Let me know how you make out.
