Body Mounting Bolt 2010 Gmc Sierra

I purchased side steps for my 2010 Sierra. Mounting them requires removing the bolts that hold the body to the frame. My problem is with the rear most bolt, drivers side - first bolt I tried to remove. I was able to start loosiening it but when it got to a certain point the bolt just spins as if the nut is not holding. It can be moved up and down but just spins, does not continue to loosen. BTW - I tried the middle one and was able to completely take it off. I went ahead and put the middle bolt back on until I can solve the rear most bolt problem. Is there a way to hold the nut so that the bolt can be removed and installed again?

THANKS!!! I called the dealer and the service guy said bring it in tomorrow for warranty repair!!!! And he said he would have all the bolts/nuts checked! Update to follow....

Dealer fixed the nut and checked all the others - no charge - WARANTY. I was able to remove the monuting bolts and intall the steps - no problems. Thanks for the info!!!

Yup, known issue. Any dealer worth their salt should fix that under warranty with no issues.

Can you explain what (how) they repaired this common issue? Wonder what Chevrolet has instructed their dealers on what steps they need to take to fix this problem, (step by step), so it doesn't crop up again....

I wish I could! I was just so glad that I wasn't charged that I didn't ask for the details. He just stated that the TSB required them to check all of the body bolts and fix em. Sorry. I'll call the dealer next week and try and find out.
