How Do People Sell Stuff Cheap On Ebay?

I decided to gather all of my stuff that I dont need anymore together and try to get rid of it. I put a few things on ebay, and after selling my first item, I realized that may have not been the best option. It is the most likely place to sell these odds and ends, but almost 20% of the money I made went to fees to ebay and Paypal.

 

Because of that, I have to make my prices kinda high. Is there a secret that Im missing that allows people to sell stuff cheap? Or, more importantly, how can I reduce my fees payed in?

I first hit the forums to sell, and craigslist..

 

Selling on ebay sucks because of the fees, but if you cant sell local or on the forums, the exposure u get on ebay cant be beat.

 

One trick to selling on forums , if the buyer is paying you through paypal. Have them pay as a personal transaction or gift. Paypal dosent charge fees for gifts..

But, it is a risk for the buyer.. So a lot of times people think twice about paying like that.

+15 on craigslist. I have bought a few things and sold a few things. Even sold our 2000 impala on there.

Ebay took over Kijiji in the states. But in Canada, Kijiji (www.kijiji.ca) is the best.
