Hey, new here. From Lemoore, CA. In the Navy. Reason i joined is I am borrowing my inlaws 2003 GMC Sierra for a couple weeks until I leave for deployment since I took my truck(2000 Dakota R/T) home to nebraska to sit in my garage while I am gone. Anyways, today while driving it popped a CEL. With my Dakota there is a "key trick" I can do to check the codes myself by turning the ignition on/off/on/off/on and then the codes will display in the odometer area. Is there something similar for GM trucks? Once again I am in Komifornia and they no longer do free CEL scanning at the parts stores.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your service to our country. I've been a member around here since 2002 and have owned four GM trucks, and I do not recall anything like you are describing with these trucks. Would be a nice trick. If I'm wrong, I'll be pleased to be corrected.

Best wishes
