I have a 2006 GMC 1500 Sierra truck. The A/C swas working fine, but now the air blows when it wants too...I hear a clicking or thumping noise on the passenger side as if a flapper or valve is stuck and won't open. I assume the blend or actuator for the air door has gone bad. Any ideas on remove and replace?

So sometimes you can have the fan on and no air comes out? Does it come out of any of the ducts (defrost, floor, etc)? Is it the right temperature?

Do you have dual climate or single? I have a 00 Sierra and mine would not go from warm to cold. The blend door actuator was under the passenger side hush panel just to the right of the tranny hump. Two screws and it's out. Only cost 50 bucks and 30 minutes work. Just make sure to pull all of your HVAC fuses before doing, then wait at least 30 minutes to put them in. Look up the "programming". If I recall, I had to turn the controls to cold, put in the fuses, then turn the truck to ON, (but not start it) and leave it that way until it reporgrammed. (about 2 minutes). It works fine now. If it's the UPPER blend door (controls where the air comes out, not the temp), you're looking at some work. You'll have to remove your ENTIRE dash, instrumentation and all to get to it. It'll take some work, but MUCH better to do it yourself. Lower door for mine was only 50 bucks, and the upper would be about 100. Dealership quoted me at 700 dollars to replace the lower, and 1500 to replace the upper! I'm not sure how they got that price when it only took me a half hour!

I have an '04 GMC 1500 Sierra truck. the driver side blows cold air & the passenger side blows hot (dual climate control). took it to the stealer and after 115 bucks, they found 3 codes, flashed and did some updates with 1 hard code for the passenger blower door actuator. 1000.00 bucks to replace it. 6+ hrs to remove dash, coolant and the refrigeration. I am open to any idea's anyone might have. i have done the batt, reset and all.

Thanks,

Bill
