Deaver Mini Pack Installed

My 2003 has 160,000 miles and it had really been riding poorly. The rear springs were sagging to the point where they were about a 1/2" from touching the stock overload spring. Since my commute is about 100 miles a day I wanted it to ride better. I frequently use the whole volume of my bed, but my loads are never over 500lbs. Heavy stuff I use my trailer.

 

I bought a set of deaver mini packs. My plan was to replace the overload spring and rear blocks with the leaf packs. I've been wanting to get rid of the factory blocks since it was new, the truck has always had bad wheel hop.

 

The install was straight forward and took an hour each side. The lift block with overload measured 2.25" in height compared to the deavers at 1.75" so I should have lost a 1/2". But the deavers must have given some support back to the stock main leaves beacuse my rear fender height was 38" before and after. I'm betting it with settle some but I'm fine with this because my front it at 36.5". I finished off the rear with new ubolts and a set of rs9000xl shocks.

 

So far I love this setup. The rear ride is much better, comparing it to what it was. It is a lot more controlled. I don't have to chase the ass end around whenever I hit bumps. The wheelhop/axle wrap is completely gone and as an added bonus my drivetrain clunk is gone. That must have been a product of the axle wrap. I played with the shocks and setting 3 seems to work best for me in the rear.
