Alignment needed with the 285's?

Folks,

  I just had the BFG 285/75/16's put on the new 2003 Tahoe.  They look great!   All the mech. did was "crank the Torsion bar".  Will it be too much for the bar to take over time?  Will I need an allignment?  It rides straight and still does not pull to either side when my hands arn't on the wheel and I just finish my forst trip of 400 miles.  It now has a total or about 750 miles.

Depending how much the torsion bars were cranked it may not hurt to have the alignment checked.  Some people have had their alignment go out of spec when the bars were cranked and others haven't.  I guess it just depends on what side of the parameter the truck was set at when it was aligned at the factory.

I'll re-ask fgrimm's other question - will that be too much for the torsion arms to take over time?  There is tons of stuff on the forum about ferd keys vs. torsion bar cranking (and even a great thread about different bars and their strength), but no one has said whether cranking the torsion bars is a good long-term thing or not.  Being a newbie to the "big truck scene", I can confidently ask this      

 

I also want to put 285/75's on my '98 Suburban 1500 but if cranking the torsion bars increases the chance of one of them failing later on and the ferd keys don't, my choice of which method to use to get the necessary clearance becomes a lot easier to make.

I have 285's and no cranking of the bars was necessary. I have no clearance issues and it drives great just as it is.
