1500 Silverado Clutch Fluid Leaking

Hello everybody,

 

I have a year 2000 chevy 1500 silverado 4.8L V8, manual transmission. Today I was riding down the road and my clutch just went out, no normal push-down pressure. I couldn't easily get it into gear, and I had to man it into first so I could make it home (right up the road) going 20mph.

 

My first thought was that it was low on clutch fluid (DOT 3), so I filled it up and pumped the clutch, jumped out, looked at the reservoir and there's little air bubbles coming out. I looked under the truck and sure enough it's going straight through and leaking out of one of the bottom holes in the transmission.

 

Right before the clutch went out there was a low bad humming noise like unlubricated metal, which turned into a sharp squeak, then the clutch dropped to the floor.

 

I have a haynes manual right here, any info/thoughts on the problem and how to/cost of repair?

The leak appears to be coming out of the transmission bell housing.

Slave cylinder needs replaced , which requires the transmission to be pulled out.

Thanks for the offer. I ended up bringing it over to a friend of mine who works on transmissions and so far they're replacing the clutch, and master/slave cylinders. There may be a bent shiftrail.
