Hey everyone. I m looking to get some help from you guys, My back brakes were making noise on the weekend so i figured it was time to change the shoes. After fighting with the drum and looking at the shoes i found that they were ok but then i noticed that the seal has just started to leak and the shoes were a little wet. Im planing on replacing the seal this week but im trying to do my home work before i start, I know i have to remove the clip in the diff to get the axle out i m just wondering how hard is it to remove and reinstall the clip and is there any tips on doing this. If anyone has any tips on doing this please let me know or if there is a web site that would be great.

Thanks for your help guys

After you remove the pin, just push the axles in and the c-clips will fall out. When reinstalling the axles, just push them all the way in and there will be plenty of room to put the c-clips back in the grooves in the axles. Once the c-clips are in the axle grooves, just push the axles back out until the c-clips are retained in the axle gears. Then the pin can go back in.

To remove the axle seals, just use the grooves in the axles to pry them out. This makes the job really easy.

Make sure that your axles don't have a groove worn in them from the seals. If they do, you can get a new seal that has an offset and will ride on a new, unworn area of the shaft. As stated above, very easy to get the c clips off.

Is this for your 09?

The seals are best removed with a small sliding hammer and seal puller attachment. To install new seals, use a correct size socket or a piece of PVC pipe and drive them in gently with a mallet. Coat the inner rubber portion of the seal with grease to protect the seal until differential oil gets to it. I also lubricate the outside metal part with oil to make it easier for the seal to slide in, as it is an interference fit. Make sure you start driving the seal in straight.

Ok so I have it apart but my diff has anti slip and I can't get the clips out now what lol

They will come out. Have you removed the pin? Just push in on the axle, you should be able to slip the clip off. Find a manual to help you.

Ok so after some time I got the axle out. Just a FYI for anyone who trys this repair, you have to to remove the abs sensor in order to push the shaft in far enough to remove the clip and that's not easy, after about 20 min it just came out

C-Clip axles pulling the clip out and putting them back, is easier with a pencil magnet..... After you have the axle pushed towards the center....

Didn't know about the sensor being in the way.......
