Courtesy Lights Upon Door Unlock Question

Hello all, I hope i'm posting this in the correct forum. I searched and didn't have much luck.

Currently, my 08 Sierra Denali is set such that when you unlock the doors, the headlights and reverse lights come on for a timed period. This only happens when it is dark out of course, as it should.

My vision is that I'd like to add some sort of lights (LED's maybe) to the under carriage or somewhere appropriate near the doors where those lights will come on in the same manner as the headlights and reverse lights when the doors are unlocked. Maybe it's as simple as tying into those wires, but I obviously don't want the new lights coming on with the reverse lights when I'm in reverse or when the headlights are on. Just when the lights come on for the unlock. Make sense?

Hopefully someone can provide some detail on the best way to hook into the wiring for what I want to accomplish.

Thanks.

I'm planning on adding LED lights above the running boards on my truck. I have a 2003 Avalanche, but the theory is the same. For mine, I'm going to tap into the wires for the puddle light between the driver door module and the driver side mirror. I think that is the best way to have lights come on with the courtesy lights because the puddle lights only come on as courtesy lights.

I know that GM usually only puts mirrors with puddle lights on avalanches & SUVs, but I would expect a sierra denali would have them as well. If not, the wiring should still be there.

I just finished installing Recon Big Rig Ice led light bars that have a white light that comes on with the the interior lights. I thought I could Simply hook up the wire to the positive side of the foot well light to get them to come on, when I did that the led would stay on even with the interior lights were off. What I ended up having to do was use another relay to get this to work. I used relay # 8567. Apparently they the existing relay for the courtesy lights turns on when grounded which makes it a royal pain when adding to existing courtesy lights.

86 & 87 Need to be connected to the Positive courtesy light wire (I ran 1 wire from the courtesy light to the relay and jumped it over to both positions)

85 is the negative courtesy light wire

30 is the LEDs bar

Go through the DIC. Mine was set to do that. When I added the DIC I think I can shut that off now
