So, I have this broke 4L60 transmission won't shift out of 2nd. I'm told these were used in Corvettes? Why are they in a truck? Can they be upgraded? I can get it rebuilt for $1500 but obviously it's a piece of crap. Can you give me some options? What about putting in a standard transmission? Or is there too much computer junk involved?

Its so good they used it in a corvette, did you ever think of that?

I think you need to find somewhere else to act like an idiot. I'm the only idiot around here but I do it with style, which you have none of.

Sure but there's huge differences in torque and load between a car and a truck. A car transmission in a truck usually isn't a good idea.

Hey Radio, Its a truck transmission used in a car, not the other way around.

Thanks, I'll get it rebuilt and maybe upgraded. But, carbs and standard transmissions with 15" tires are Great; and I can fix them myself.

You are the one that wrote the check for a 99' truck, no one here forced your hand.

I really think its funny how you come on here a act like a complete fool, it is very entertaining.

....... I've been messing with this truck more than a year........

Its no one else's fault but yours that you bought a piece of crap, so stop acting like it. Sell the pile an buy a 1985 Honda Accord and join that forum to annoy those people.

 Agree with that Paul!

My questions are:

how old are you? not coming across very mature about things...

When/how long ago did u purchase said truck?

What type of condition was this truck in, sounds like it was beat on pretty well prior to you or (not assuming) you?

Simpletons are easy to amuse. Glad I could help.

What part isn't mature? I'm probably older than you.

A year and a half ago. Very Good condition. Drove fine 8 months before any problems.

I'm not on here to be figured out; I'm just looking for answers about my vehicle.

I can buy a 15-20 year old toyota pickup and not have any problems with it. So it's not the age but the quality. That's been proven over and over.

Then buy a Toyoturd & be done with it. Why continue messing with the pile you have now? Even GM has their lemons. After all "It's just a vehicle."

I would just have it rebuilt and have the mods done to the servos & clutch packs.

It's a good trans and been around many years. If the trans is serviced regularly, it will last a long time.

I would suggest adding an external trans cooler (if it doesn't have one) and using synthetic ATF.

If you want a standard trans, I would recommend selling this truck and buying the truck that you want. Just be aware, standard transmissions suck when it comes to towing.

Good luck with it.

I actually read a similar description that also said the e is generally not used today since all of the transmissions are electronic now so there's no need to add the e. That's why I left it off.

So, rebuild and get the upgrades and I've got a few more years of it? I hope...I just bought new 16" tires for it.

I can say thats reasonable, just know when ordering parts i still need to specify the e. but yeah as long as the case is good a rebuild should give you close to 200k with the upgrades that is of course assuming you dont pull campers for a living but if you do put on a huge tranny cooler and youll be fine. 4l60e can be a super tough tranny when done right.

get it rebuilt and dont look back. I got 278k miles out of my 4l60e and it was slipping for 2 years before it finally went out for good. its a great transmission proven time and time again. good luck
