Coolant Leak On Back Of Motor On 97 5.7l

I have a coolant leak on my 1997 GMC Savana 5.7L on the back of the engine. It seems to leak only a couple hours after sitting, say overnight. It hesitates when I hit the gas after it sits. It also has a bit of a popping sound in the exhaust. I got a Check Engine Light that the trouble codes were PO171 and PO174.

I changed the thermostat thinking that is what leaked, but it wasn't. I replaced the fuel filter and it still hesitates. Is it the lower intake manifold and would that leak coolant?? Also has anyone changed the intake gasket themselves??

I have done a video showing everything in detail: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRKVV6fQo88

If you have any questions or need clarification, do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for any help.

Ditto............

Intake gasket. Vacuum and coolant probably...

Exhaust smell sweat?

Get it fixed quick worst thing is a bent connecting rod or two or three or more (water doesn't displace like air).... and an engine rebuild if it is coolant.

I had it do that on the front side of my 97 Sierra 5.7. The sealant they used to seal the lower intake manifold broke down. I was actually able to pick it off with my figures and then it was pouring out.

The fix is easy expect for the re-assembly. I did not get the distributor cap/rotor/shaft assembly on perfectly and it would run rough and had a check engine light. You won't be able to fix that yourself unless you have a scanner to check the position of the cap. That part I had to bring it in to get it fixed. Other then that its all nuts and bolts!

After re-reading your post and seeing a video link, it looks like the gaskets of the sealant since it's on the angled part not the flat part in the middle.

Break out the metric wrenches and sockets...... get busy.... Shouldn't take you but about an hour if your taking your time.... But if you've never do that sort of thing before....... plan a day.
