Advent Ogm-1 New Firmware Released

Does this unit fit the "LT / SLE" dash style, or only the "SLT / LTZ" dash? Pictures on the site only show the LTZ/SLT dash. I'm not sure if the two styles have identical opening and mounts?

The dash openings are identical - one radio fits all trucks!

You can see photos of this unit in both style dashes in our Installation Photo Database

This method should work with the new firmware version: I've been told that the reverse trigger input (Green/White REVERSE + lead in Advent harness) will still be live and will turn on the camera input whenever it sees 12v. I've not yet tested this, but we should be able to get the camera on while driving feature now by simply toggling 12v to that reverse signal lead on the deck. So, standard operation will be that the camera will trigger as normal in reverse (triggered via the LAN), but when you want to see your camera while driving, wire the camera to ACC 12v, then toggle ACC 12v to the reverse input (for almost all NBS trucks, you can get this from pin 8 at X14 on left I/P Junction Block) and you should have camera view. If anyone tries this, please post your experience to see if it works as outlined.

Hey Walt,

I got mine yesterday, and I'm a little confused about powering/triggering the camera based on what you said above. You say pin 8 at X14 is the reverse trigger, but on the diagram it says pin 8 on X10. I just want to make sure I'm on the right pin. Also, just to clarify, I just need to run a wire from that pin through a switch to the green/white wire on the deck to trigger the camera whenever I want, right?

Also, I want to echo what everyone else has said about you. Top notch customer service, great job!

Scott,

The method I outlined above to trigger the camera while driving WILL NOT WORK with the new firmware (10/28/11). They have put that feature on hold and since this firmware revision removed the ability to trigger the camera input simply by supplying a video signal on that wire, we really have no way of activating it while driving now.

The reverse wire I called out was where we used to have to get the reverse trigger for the deck to turn on the camera input. Now you don't have to make any connections to trigger the camera - it gets the trigger via data through the LAN, so all you have to do is plug it in and tell the deck you have a camera ("Menu" - "Settings" - Rear Camera "on").

As far as hooking the camera to accessory power, use this diagram and use PIN 8 on port X14 for camera accessory power (red wire on camera), and use PIN 1 for camera ground (black wire) - you DO NOT need to use the reverse wire - I just added it for reference.

PLEASE NOTE: THE DIAGRAM REFERENCED IN THE (November 1, 2011 7:42 AM) POST ABOVE WAS IN ERROR & WAS REMOVED FROM OUR SERVER - THIS IS THE CORRECT DIAGRAM FOR ALL POWER AND GROUND CONNECTIONS AT X14 & X10:

Is there any news if there will be anymore firmware updates anytime soon?

Talked to engineers yesterday and the rep today, but there's no firm timetable yet. So far they've released them every 2-3 months (updates so far: April-May-July-October), but as the bugs get squashed and features start to get filled in, my guess is they'll come a little slower. Having said that, we have a few feature requests in the queue that I hope we'll see sooner than later.

I'll see if I can get anything more definitive and post what I know...

Hey Walt,

Is there somewhere we can post feature requests so that Advent can see exactly what users are looking for? I'm liking it so far, but there are some things that would make it excellent.

Already done - Just got off the phone with my contact at Advent and I'll be starting a new thread asking for feedback and feature requests...

Walt can you put a bigger clock in navigation system or change it side?

It's already in the list, Serge! We'll see what the options are after our meeting in Vegas...

i'm amazed at how well Advent is listening to their users on ways to make these units better and better!

Its definitely impressive! In 2 weeks I am ordering the unit myself and a NEW camera

It really is impressive. I spent far more installing a Pioneer unit in my HHR and there was only one firmware update after I bought it before they quit developing it. Good luck ever getting Pioneer or anyone else for that matter to listen to the wishes of the consumers. Its nice to know that you can still buy a piece of technology this day in age that isn't a "dead" technology a few months after you buy it. It's a great unit already and can't wait to see how much better it gets!

Check out the video I shot of the new iGo Primo interface on the OGM-1 at the CES Show yesterday...

    • I think users are going to want to pick their monitored parameters, which parameters they want to see first.    It should probably start with baseline at a minimum and adjust to learned, but be able to overlay baseline for comparison.   A simple severity level would be able to determine what type of alerting is appropriate or user selectable.    Why not use the OBD port though?   I think a phone connection would be a good idea, push notifications type deal.   Number 1 issue is having data is useless if you don’t know what the data should be under normal conditions.
    • I thought I would use your thread and add to it as I just did my first longer drive with my truck in the last couple of days. I drove from the Grande Prairie area of Alberta down to Edmonton and most of where I drove in the city was the ring road so fairly free flowing but a bit of stop and go as well in the city. Stayed the night and returned home and not too many stops along the way each way but every restart and certainly every cold start sets it back for fuel mileage. Why I say that is I see some people will cherry pick a fuel mileage leg after the vehicle had been warmed up driveline wise before hand and its a forgiving ( easy rolling drive leg for example ) and call that their fuel mileage which can give a false perception of reality. I was not heavily loaded at all but never the less the flip bak cover, rubber bed mat, various tools etc and extra jerry cans of fuel all way up to a few hundred pounds of dead weight so its not an empty truck. The cold inflation tire pressures are set more near the freezing point so once they are warmed up driving I was showing 45 front and over 40 rear and realize high inflation pressures would help a little in fuel mileage but certainly not the ride on our crap sections of highway. The weather was good so was not raining as that can really drag mileage down, in fact I had a bit of a tail wind on average driving home. Most people on here would never have driven on that freeway to visualize it but its got a fair bit of rolling type of landscape with numerous river valleys. For the most part I had it on cruise set to 62 although kicking it off if I caught it in time before it started down shifting and self braking going down the grades. Most of the more substantial grades its shifting into 7th I believe as 8th just doesn't have it. Total distance round trip was 643 miles and my overall average and I did refuel three times in all, figured out to 17.65 miles per US gallon. My best fuel mileage section refuel within all of this figured out to 18.46 and these are all hand calculated figures. I find if anything that the trucks computer can be over optimistic, sometimes its pretty close but other times its stretching it. On paper persay in theory the truck would have just about made it on fumes for that whole drive without refueling once.    Which made me think of the topic thread of the wonder if these trucks could do 20 mpg and that is a good question, certainly would have to be on an easy going flat highway, no head wind, the right temperature, not packing around a bunch of dead weight and puttering along even slower than I was I would suspect and going steady and not stopping to smell the flowers or take a piss !. It probably is possible but not without effort to attain that with the wind resistance and weight of these trucks. Of course on my drive most people are passing me if they have the power as per loaded highway tractors, never mind a lot of speedy vehicles but the speed limit is 68 and most are at or well over that.
    • Monday looks like a good day for the dealer to test an ac issue. Hopefully it all turns out good.
    • Paid $2.72 for E85 today.
    • Welcome back! No, it definitely doesn't pass the sniff test. Even "ceasefire" needs an alternative definition these days.    $5.29 at Kroger today
