Yeah, Another Hid Issue Thread

Okay, so I put a pair of HIDs (low beam) in my 2007 NNBS LTZ Silverado and they worked great for 2 days now all of a sudden they stopped working (both of them). I have read the forums and went ahead and installed them with a relay wiring harness to prevent some of the issues others were having. Unfortunately I didn't have a Ohm Meter last night (just a traditional test light) so I decided to see where I have power. First of all I placed the probe into the factory headlight switch so see if it was triggering the relay and the light meter illuminated so we have power there. I then tested the relay and it illuminated the test light as well. Then I tested the wire leading into the ballast and it illuminated the test light. Lastly I unplugged the ballast output to the bulb and touched it with the test light and it did illuminated but it was very dim and almost appeared to pulse bright and dim. Anyone have any suggestions because Im at a loss. Today Im gonna try unplugging the relay and plug the factory plug directly into the ballast (by-passing the relay) to see if the lights will ignite but if that doesn't work what suggestions do you have?

 

BTW- I've pulled both of my DRL fuses so they wont affect the lights (and yes I made sure it was the DRL fuses I pulled not the low beams.

Could very well be the ballast. All these HID kits are low cost junk from China and have crappy reliability at best.

Went thru and tested everything with ohm meter and it all checked out ok. Right before I was ready to give up I decided to run the relays ground to the battery vs. The trucks chassis and so far so good, it seems to be working!
