Hows it going everyone, I am a new guy on this forum. I drive a 07 silverado vortec max ltz 4x4 ext cab. I have owned this truck for almost three years now. I have been a chevy guy since day one! I have only had a few issues with this vehicle since I bought it but, they have all been fixed except for one that drives me crazy! when I come to a stop it feel like some one bumps into me. I have taken it to the dealer 6 times. First they cleaned and greased the slip yoke splines, then replaced the slip yoke with a nickle plated one, then they just greased the yoke every time. nothing has lasted more than a month. I have searched threads, I know this is a common issue but, has any had the transfer case output shaft replaced for this issue? I forgot the tbs # but, it says to replace the output shaft & to not grease the slip yokes on 4x4's. Should i be worried about all the grease they packed in there already? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

No, you shouldn't be worried about the grease IMO. I previously owned an 07 vmax and had very little issue with the truck too. I never had the slip yoke issue on that truck, but my 03 I did. If you drop the drive shaft and re-pack the slip yoke splines with grease, that should take care of your issue. For me, It lasted about 10,000 miles each time.

Welcome to the site.

Just wondering if I should let the dealer tear into the transfer case if it is not going to fix anything. Thanks for replie

The grease was a one week bandage for this truck... Its been done a few times. I just delt with this problem since i have owned this truck. The bulletin # 09-04-21-003d is what i was referring to. Its states to replaced transfer case output shaft if the lubrication procedure has been done already.

Changed both output shaft and drive shaft, not fixed, may be 50% improvement. GM must provide special grease for 4WD!

I wounder if # 09-04-21-003E is addressing this issue finally!

Thanks for replie 4wd.... I took my pickup to the dealer again, they ordered the transfer case output shaft. So hopefully it fixes this one or at least makes it better. The last time I looked in my review mirror at a stop light after feeling a little thump! I was hoping someone really did hit me because I hate looking in the mirror wounding!

Welcome aboard I hope they get your truck straightend out. I had an 01 Duramax that had the "bump" feel just as you were hitting the gas pedal. I greased the splines on it with no luck and found that the rubber seal in the carrier bearing was shot and I was getting play in the shaft. However that was a 2500HD with a two piece rear shaft. I wish ya the best cause that stuff is damn sure aggravating.
