I have a 2011 GMC Sierra 2500HD with SLE package. I'm having an issue with the TPMS. The unit is preset for 65 psi in the front and 75psi in the rear. I understand that with a full load, 75 psi in the rear tires is fine, but when empty, 75 psi is too high. The ride suffers and the tires are beginning to wear down the centers. I have searched everywhere, and from what I could find, the Tech 2 can change the psi threshold on the computer but my dealer says they can't do it due to liability. Is there anything I can do other than crack the dash and pull the LED? To make matters worse I just installed my winter tires, BFG Mud Terrains and these have a maximum inflation of 65.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

I believe you can have that system tuned out (permanently shut off). Just have to find someone with either a Tech 2 or an EFI Live setup. Plenty of guys out there with them - maybe put a wanted ad on Craigslist or something in exchange for a 30 pack, or what have you.

I've just learned to ignore the stupid light. Annoys the crap out of me, but not enough yet to have it removed. I'm sure sometime soon the inspection stations will start failing you for it (at least in this nanny state) - then I'll tune it out.
