Front end noise while turning

Hi guys, I have a 2001 Sierra 4x4 and lately noticed that it's making a slight knocking noise while tuning. When I'm driving dead slow it won't do it but a bit faster and it does

intermediate shaft i'm willing to bet, try hitting the zerk fitting with some grease. You may have to replace it entirely. THink there was a TSB on it actually.

there is no grease point on the int shaft

swore there was one, guess not after looking at a pic. To check the wheel bearing jack up the front off the ground and give the tire a shake

Intermediate shaft. The grease settles to the bottom due to heat over time. you can buy the new model or you can unbolt the one you have now and exercise it by stroking the 2 pieces multiple times to redistribute the grease. will be ok for a while. i thought their was a tech article here somewhere, do a search.

Thanks guys. Yesterday for the first time it did it while I was reversing whilethe steering wheel was close to straight. Other than that it only does it at a higher speed while the wheel is turned like getting on an on ramp etc.

Rhe noise is like a scratching

Is the intermediate shaft the steering shaft? Also how should I grease it?

Also today I noticed it mostly does it while turning left more so than turning right

take it in ,noises and the internet are impossible,

buy a grease kit for the int shaft at GM if ya have to grease it after a diagnoses
