adjusting front suspetion for bottoming out

Hey guys, i drove down a ditch to pull some one out last night, while driving down the ditch the oppostie suspention droped down and didn't bottom out but the cv bottomed out instead, causing it to crack the inner cv housing. Then when i went to pull the guy out, the torque of the truck snapped it instintly. My question is how can i adjust the suspention so it bottoms out before my cv joint does,

you could install a strap or chain that will prevent the lower control arm form drooping lower than allowed by the cv joint.
