Fuel pump, u-joint, Speedo...How are they connected?

So i have a 98 2 door 4x4 blazer. The front u-joint on the rear drive shaft finally went out so i i replaced it. after getting the drive shaft put back in i went to start it and the fuel pump didn't kick on. So i began that great adventure, Haven't replaced it yet cause i discovered something odd. The speedo is stuck at 100. i know is kind of a semi common thing on these but i don't now if its related to my problem. I have power to the relays for the fuel pump. I need some help. Thanks

That is a strange one, any chance you may of hit the VSS sensor on the back of the transfer case? I know there are wire harnesses all over under there. The VSS will not cause the no start condition, but it would affect the speedo. Fuel pump is a very common issue on the S series pickups/blazers, so is 4wd failure due to the vacuum system.

ok so i did the old pound on the tank trick and got the fuel pump to kick back on and i have good pressure (yeah i know needs to be replaced soon but im ballin on a budget here) anyway now i dont have spark from the coil. i went and bought a new one. still no spark. am i looking at an ecm issue?

I am thinking ground issue, that would explain the speedo issue and the coil. All this is just out of the blue? Any issues leading up to today?

ok so it only took replacing the coil and ignition control module but the beast lives again. thanks for all the help. and 06Sierraz71...clever very clever. ha...ha
