Hey all bought a 09 2500 hd (used) in 2010 and had a problem last winter with the windows being frozen in the closed position after rain and then below freezing temps at night ! This may sound picky to some, but after owning GM cars/trucks all my life I have never had this problem.

Yes I had the truck warmed up, dash vents blowing hot on side glass still took a very long time to be able to open them ,they are power windows. So I took a closer look to see what it could have been, and all I can figure is GM went to a diff. style/type of window felt that seems to hold water like a sponge.

During summer/ spring months after washing or rain when you put the windows down/up it leaves water streakson glass, the felts/weatherstriping stay wet for some time!

Has anyone else had this problem, seems like it could be a safety issue if you needed to open the windows quick. Well sorry for the long post , Would like to hear if other GM900 people have had this happen :chevy: Thanks Dave

You can treat all the rubber weatherstrip with silicone dielectric grease or Krytox grease (and should from time to time) but if it is the window welt at the bottom of the window I don't know of any cure.

Happened to me this morning! I noticed that it was only stuck in the back portion. The front seemed to want to move.

get some winshield washer fluid with deicer in it and put some in a spray bottle then just spray your windows down around the weatherstripping. Its not a permanent fix but works.

This has happened to me with both my trucks, my parents vehicles and my wife's car. All different makes and models from an Audi, GMC, Chevrolet, Chrysler and Nissan so it's not just a GM thing. If you get any sort of condensation or water near your windows and it freezes, it is going to freeze the window shut. Same with a door. You can treat it with deicing spray but there is really no way to prevent it. If there is water on your windows below freezing, it's going to freeze your windows shut. Not a big deal in my opinion, just another part of winter.

As for leaving streaks, I've never seen a car that doesn't do this. It's completely normal for there to be streaks after you wash it or it rains.

Every vehicle I've ever had the windows will freeze in wet freezing weather, Nothing will prevent that other than moving south.
