All of you gun guys........

I just received a pretty cool gift...... an FN FNP 45 Tactical. 3 15-round mags, threaded barrel, night sights, rail & plate on top to mount a small red dot/ sight.

Any of you guys know much about the smaller sights? The most popular I can find is the trijicon RMR, but I will not throw $900 for a pistol sight. :nonod:

I'm looking for a decent one that's reasonably priced. Along with a decent suppressor that I can swap back and forth between my other guns.

Anyone have any experience or suggestions with these?

This is the gun-

I'm going to order the Viridian C5L in a week :M16:

First suggestion is to use gun terminology correctly. Unless this is some updated model of a Garand it uses a magazine not a clip.

Fixed...... I'm sorry, hope to get your approval now :fingersx: and as a matter of fact I do own an M1 Garand

lol if we are getting gun technical the garand was a zipper clip fed internal magazine...lol

This is true. Lol I see a few technicalitys that I could technically get technical with.

If it were me I would just stick with the night sights or install a laser sight on a tactical firearm. In a selfe defense scenario in the dark it could prove to be dificult to achieve proper target acquisition with a red dot.

I would not try to save pennies on a sight that travels with the slide on a handgun either. It will have to take alot of abuse. I have a Tasco micro red dot scope on a Ruger 22/45. I love the scope for plinking but it takes some practice to be able to pick up the red dot quickly. You have to develop the muscle memory to raise the handgun in perfect alignment with your eye. If not you will take precious time to rotate the firearm until you can find the red dot and that would prove costly in a defense scenario. On my ruger the sope remains stationary to the frame so the only abuse it sees is the faint amount of recoil. If you are convinced you want a red dot I would probably stick with a holographic unit.

Yea I hear you. Thanks for your input. That would mean spending the $900 for the RMR. I think I will just try out the Viridian C5L first which is a 100 lumen light and green laser. I would rather take that $900 plus more on a new ACOG.

I was getting greedy and wanted both lol. Oh well. It is a sweet shooting gun and would def recommend it!

I've wanted to get a suppressor for one of my guns but don't like the idea of being finger printed. No one has my prints and no one will if I can help it.

Just curious..... how do you get a hand-gun as a gift? Who's name is on it or did you pre-register for it?

Just not sure how that would work. I sure as hell wouldn't buy a hand gun and let someone else have it.

It would depend on that states laws. In ND gunshow and private sales don't require any paperwork to be recorded, should keep a receipt for proof of sale just to be safe though. Only paperwork actually recorded is the original sale of the new gun.
