2008 Sierra Tow capacities

Where can I find the towing capacities for my truck? I looked on the new and it says 4800 pounds. That seems low. I want to buy a Jeep to off road with and tow it to off road parks. My truck has the 5.3 with tow package and 3.73 gears.

Its in the owners manual. Usually under the section titled "towing."

I'd think you'd be in the 7700-8600 lbs range. My old 03 5.3 with 4.10 gears was rated for 8800 lbs

You'll be fine. If yours is 2wd then we have the same truck. Mine is rated at 7700lbs. However, the GCWR is 13000lbs and my actual truck weight is 5700 with a full tank of fuel. As a result, my tow rating is more like 7300 lbs. A trailer and jeep should be less than 7500lbs easy but you'll need to load it properly to watch the hitch weight. I believe the rear axle is rated at 3900 lbs. When pulling my trailer I get closer to my axle rating than anything else due to firewood, ice chests, etc.
