Front diff crossover

I'm looking at replacing my front diff, it is making growling noises when in 4 wheel drive. I have found a used diff to replace it.

My truck is a 04"Sierra Z71 Crew, VIN (last 10) T641352263 and the donor truck is an "06 1500HD VIN- U96F183496. Both are 4.10 ratio and GT5 option number. My concern is the splines for the axles not being correct. Can I use my stub axles in this diff? Any one out there an expert on this matter?

Thanks

1st off ,WTF are you doin buyin a used POS diff?????? do not buy it !!!!!! you are getting caught up in the cost factor ,and you WILL GET BURNED,,odds are not with you ...

you can answer this yourself unless its an online purchase by pulling the axle shafts and comparing the 2 (good luck as they CAN be a PITA to get out on some diffs

your truck is worth having the diff repaired

your VIN is incomplete,1/2 t or 3/4t ,,,,K1 or K2 ?

i just noticed you are from alberta ,dam it ,pm me ,

I guess the dealers can sort out the specs from the last 10 of the VIN

The diff is clean, 120 k on a rollover truck, all hwy/city

Mine is a '04 Sierra, 1/2 ton, Crew, Z71, front diff = GT5, 4.10, K1

His is a '06 Silvy, 1500HD, Crew, front diff = GT5, 4.10, K1

$350.00 seems worth the effort, about 1500.00 to get a rebuilt...

you had an estimate for the repair?

good luck to you i guess ,as for the vin , i meant you never mentioned what your truck was ,the whole vin shows K1 or K2 ,the last 10 shows engine and year only,

go to full size forum for VIN breakdown

have fun if you are doin the diff yourself

merry xmas whatever your name is !!!
