Do bug deflectors (hood protector) work?

i think they work good for deflecting bugs.....but at the same time it catchs lots of them too and looks like S*#! when they get bug stained....Just my two cents.

Mine only looks pretty after I wax it (so I can wash the bugs off more easily). The rest of the time it's out picking up bugs...

My 'bug' deflector equipped Suburban has no paint chips on the hood. My 'other' truck, well, I lost interest in counting paint chips after 100, lol. Enough said.

Well, the deflector is good for keeping bugs off the hood. I had one just because I dont wash my truck that often, and certain bugs, like love-bugs, have a paint eating, acidic tendency if you leave them on there too long.

 

Edit: let me specify they are for guarding against bugs, and maybe small rocks. I lost mine when one of my students leaned up against the hood and cracked it down the middle. Then he tried to "fix it" and dropped it. I just through all 4 pieces away. The one I had on my 06 went away after hitting an owl. Just be aware that the ones that say unbreakable, ARENT.
