08 silverado upper ball joints

I heard the upper ball joints on the newer silverado is not replaceable that you have put in a new upper controll arm. Is this true? I never came across a ball joint that couldnt be replaced.

They are serviced via GM as a control arm only, just like the 800 series trucks/utilities were. I'm sure that Moog makes a replacement ball joint for them, just like they do for the 800 series trucks/utilities.

id think youd be able to press it out and replace it for alot less then the entire controll arm hope mine never go out.

They will go out...and sooner with a leveling kit. Mine were already starting to go with only 40K on the clock.

 

GMT900s + Leveling kits = premature ball joint failures.
