I have a question about the passlock system that I cant seem to find an answer to maybe someone here can help. Here's the rub I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado and yesterday the battery died and before that it was running fine I charged the battery and tried to start it it will run for about a second and quit. Now the question is since the battery died does the passlock have to relearn the codes over again?

Check the underhood fuse panel for a blown fuse. Forget the name of it, but it's in there.

I'm guessing you got it fixed by now or I would have seen the topic bumped a few times. Just in case though I will pass on what I learned with my Silverado. When you disconnect the battery or it dies to a low enough voltage, the PCM makes you go through an idle speed sensor re-learn procedure. Not sure that is the 100% true GM name for it. No doubt they call it a value added feature. Anyway, it will only run a second or two because it can't idle (yet). Just keep it going for 1 to 3 mins with your foot on the accelerator until it will idle on it's own. I've had it happen a dozen times in the 10 years I've owned mine. I don't know why they never mention this "feature" in all the procedures that begin with "Disconnect battery before servicing..." It's also good to know if recovering from a dead battery and you just get it to start with its last, dying volts. You gotta keep it running with the pedal or you wouldn't have enough juice left to even turn it over again. Hope you got it going and were not really waiting 2 months for someone to post this simple GM detail. You'll know it for the next time it happens anyway.
