Line-X complete, bed cover on, cargo bar in, now a big grin

Had my truck Line-X yesterday. Over the rails, with the Extra UV stuff. Love the way it turned out. Dirty truck, I know but I didn't want a clean truck to get Line-X (ed).

 

 

 

 

 

The over was my Extang sold fold cover, it came yesterday too.

Pros:

Really like the way it was shipped. Plenty of padding

Easy Install (as advertised)

Bed is completey dark for now, hope it stays that way

Fits great

Now I can use my truck bed as intended instead of piling everything I buy in the back seats.

 

Cons: (so far)

The foam bumpers shredded a bit when I was adjusting it on my bed (due to the Line-X over the rails).

Looks really good man. Almost identical to my set-up. Those cargo bars are the best things ever made IMO. Don't know how many times mine saved me from having to climb into the box of the truck.

Thanks for your imput on this cover 99, that helped seal it for me. I main reasons I bought the Extang over the Bakflip G2 were:

 

1. I can completey remove the cover (no rails) in 2 minutes

2. It appears just as strong as the G2

3. I don't think something that retails for $700+ shoud use "release wire", really?

4. Price, I paid $600 shipped, got truck add ons to price match + 10% off

I had Line-X installed in the bed and over-the rails on my 2010 2500HD back in March of 2010. I was charged $450-. My truck came with the cargo management rails on it whem I picked it up from the dealer, thus, the Line-X installer had to take the cargo mgmt rails off before he sprayed on the Line-X, and then, reinstall them. I have a Truxedo roll-top bed cover. I have been very happy with all of this with no problems so far.

Truck looks great! ......... I have been wanting to do this but I have seen some trucks with a spray in liner that over time looks really sun faded and flat. I dont want a bed cover as I'm sure the sun causes this to fade. Anybody had their beds lined for a long time and dosent have the faded look? If so what's the trick?

Had LineX in my 01 Sierra 1500 SLE. I currently have it in my 08 Silverado. Very durable but if your bed is not covered with a cap or cover, it will fade gradually over time. You won't really notice it until your side by side with your buddy that just got it and yours is a couple of years old.

 

I've beat it with logs, sand, gravel and four wheelers. Just be careful if you put in a sled with a studded track. The studs will tear it. They are carbide after all. A 1/4" piece of plywood under the sled will save you any headaches. I learned this the hard way in my GMC.

 

I wash mine with Simple Green and a deck brush. Just don't do it in direct sunlight. The Simple Green will leave white streaks if it dries before you rinse it thoroughly. Looks great, good luck with it.

How much height does the cover add to the bed ? It looks like 1 1/2" or so.

 

And it is water tight ?

That sounds about right, no it's not water tight. It rained pretty good here over the weekend with high wind, when I check my bed I did see a few water streaks towards the pass side of the bed, but given how hard it rained I think it held up pretty well. I had a backpac in the bed that did not get wet. These fold up covers are not 100% water tight, but I knew that going in so I don't mind. I think the only watner tight ones are the one peice tonnea covers.
