Injen makes the best system in my opinion.

This setup looks pretty nice. I've heard metal intake tubes get very hot from the engine heat radiating on them, which causes any cold air running through the hot intake tube to heat up.

That is what I've heard before too.

I found the Air raid MIT tube for like 110 bucks add in the K/N perfance filter only add up to about 160$

I love my airaid jr kit. 150.00 from amazon and I can tell there is a performance difference.

What is the purpose or function of the large box coming off the stock intake tube...and the two lines coming off the intake tube that go back toward the engine block? I'm just thinking they must serve some purpose, but it must not be too important if all the CAI systems simply bypass them.

I think that the parts you are referring to are sound deading areas. Aftermarket intakes are louder due to their bypassing of these parts.

Black bear tested I.takes and the arm brute force did best that's why I have it

I just got a K&N 57 series intake for my truck from Summit Racing for $253.00. Its a very nice kit even if the directions are lacking a little in the "what hardware to use where" section. It makes some noise but I don't really notice and difference in performance.

I love my k & n for the look, the sound, and the long lasting filter!

I do go the extra step and clean mine once a year in the summer when i detail my truck... Re oil, and it looks brand new again!

I see that you are from NY. How did you order your CAI from K&N, let alone pass inspections in a smog hater state?

After wasting a lot of money on fancy systems I have learned to just go with the AirAid Jr. kit. It's the best bang for the buck when it comes to "cold air intakes". Best bang for the buck for performance is a tune, of course.

Cold air intake = a lot of sucking noises! Both from under the hood and outta your wallet, but very little performace gain in my experience.
