Thinking of changing my setup... opinions!

Currently the truck has stock 17's with 285/70/17 Nitto Trails and a RC 2" leveling kit. Kinda bored with the truck, and I'm trying to find some color matched handles and mirror caps (can't find any on ebay!).

I have a billet grill so the only black on it is really in the handles / mirrors. I don't mind black rims, and if I got a tool box would be black too.

I don't know alot about off set and backspacing.... I know I don't want the tire sticking outside of the fender too much because I drive a fair amount of gravel roads. I'm looking for something in the 18"-20" size. 20" GMC stockers are a possibility too as I've always liked them. Kinda leaning towards GMC 20's with 295/55/20 Nitto Trails.

So in other words... I'm looking for people more knowledgeable to point me in the right directions, or put up some suggestions of rims that would look good on the truck.

Picture isn't with the Nitto's, its with the old BFG's. But you get the idea.

You have a nice looking truck. I think painted handles and mirror caps would add to it but they are hard to find. I finally came across a new set on ebay and bought them only because they are so hard to find (especially in my color stealth gray metallic/blue granite). Dont even know if I'll put them on right away as I like my chrome ones too.

I went with factory oem 20"s becasue I knew backspacing would be right and both sets I got off ebay were new takeoffs with TPMS, ready to bolt on. There are some nice aftermarket but I dont' know what backspacing you would need.

Nice looking truck.

GMPartsdirect has the mirror caps, but no painted handles or am I just missing something. Saw chrome ones but no painted. Think I'm gonna try to find some GMC stock 20's when these wear out... If not I'll just keep what I got. Maybe find some aftermarket 18's

Thanks.... You'll probably have to watch eBay if you want some factory painted handles.

I have always loved your truck so my vote is to keep it the same, but I know the modding bug all too well. I think it would like killer with a black low profile too box, black powdercoated GMC 20's with Toyo's or Trail Graps.

IMO, your current wheels are the best looking factory rims out there. That being said....if you're wanting a change....then black wheels will look awesome. A friend of mine had an '07 or '08 2500HD in that same color (which is also my favorite paint color), and he had all black accessories....black rims, black door handles, black mirrors, tinted windows, black bed caps, black nerf bars, black outs on the tails, etc. It thought it looked awesome. Black and gray look much better than chrome and gray to me. I noticed they brought that color back for 2012.....I may be truck shopping again, lol.

For offset/backspacing....your factory rims are 17x7.5 with a +31mm offset. Staying with a more positive offset will keep the rims tucked inside the fenders. My rims are 17x8.5 with +25mm offset, and they are still tucked inside quite a bit. They stick out just a little farther than stock, but not much. A lot of guys are running 9" wide rims with a +18mm offset without much trouble.

Well got bored and decided to (very poorly I may add) photoshop my rims black. What do you think?

Me likey!

Although I think a black rim with machined accents or a machined lip would look better than solid black. Just my 2 cents...

Also, I understand that you photoshopped it just to get an idea. Check out tirerack.com....you can view many different rims on your color of truck.

Where did you get your grill? I've seen a couple on eBay for cheap, but not sure if they're decent enough quality wise.
