IPOD for OGM1

Hey guys, my old IPOD crapped out on me just as i was getting ready to connect it up to my OGM1. I was wondering if there is a certain generation or model IPOD that works best with the OGM1? I'm likely going to look for a used on on ebay or CL or something. Thanks.

Depends on what you're wanting to use it for. If you just want it for music I would look for a 5th gen or higher Classic for maximum capacity. If you want to be able to play back videos then you'll need a Touch, and any of them will work just fine for use with the Advent.

Hey guys, i never did get a new ipod because i thought that my current 30GB gen 2 ipod was dead, but it actually is working fine, just needed to charge over night. However, when i plug it into the OGM1, the system does not recognize it as an ipod, but as a USB device. any ideas why? it wont display any of the ipod artists or titles on the screen either, obviously because it thinks its a usb device and not an ipod. i did reboot the ipod but that didnt help. any suggestions?

*Probably* becuase Advent didn't go that far back in their testing to make sure they are compatible with the firmware that was used on that gen iPod. I may be wrong, but if that's correct, unless they decide to support it there's nothing you can do.

Your probably right, I was just hoping someone could confirm that or possibly have a defective unit.

Hey Walt if I send u my ipod could u try it out on yours and see if ur getting the same results?

I could do that, but I would wait for the new firmware - might not make a difference, but it also might save a lot of hassle.

BTW: skicrave is right - they did not take testing back any farther than the 120GB Classic, so if it doesn't work, you really are kinda SOL, since neither Advent or Apple will support it anymore...

No problem, just shooting ideas out there. I know its an old ipod and not worth anything but hey it still works and was worth a try.....I just really hope this new firmware fixes my missing voice in the navi.
