z71MudDog Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 one of my two fuel pump bolts are stripped out.and it leaks i think my fuel pump might be going..would it be better to switch to an electric pump or do the electrics use more
Zembonez Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Changing to an electric pump won't affect your fuel consumption. Lots of folks have made the swap.
txab Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Or you could fix the stripped threads and stay with a mechanical unit. It's not that bad of a job
spankrz Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 i would stay with the mechanical if it were me, unless you are building a drag car or something. fixing that bolt won't be much of a pain, and if it were me i would put a new pump on it regarless if it is bad or not. sbc mechanical pumps are like 25 bucks?

Garrett Street Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I would stick with a mechanical pump just from a reliability and affordability standpoint. Electric is much more expensive and not any more efficient.
builderpaul Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 You will have to fix the bolt no matter what since a blank plate will need to be bolted where your fuel pump is now.
