Wonder what this would cost me

I was out cruising around the local Ford dealership today, and came across a nice looking truck.  Only problem is they didn't have the price in the window, so I figured I would see what you guys think it is worth.

2000 3/4 ton Silverado, 4x4, Vortec 6.0, 4L80e transmission, autocrap transfer case, extended cab/short bed, LS trim, bucket seats, overhead console, towing package.  I have no idea of the mileage (dang electronic odometers) but it is under 36000 because it still has the remaining factory warrenty.

So, how much would I be looking at to buy this truck?

I've been pricing a bunch of these exact trucks lately.  Here is a few of their asking prices.

2000 2500 ext. cab shortbed, LS, 8 lug axle, auto tranny, 6.0L, 4x4, loaded (everything, leather, power, etc.), 69000 miles, towing package, dark blue  $21995

2000 2500 ext. cab shortbed, 8 lug axle, auto, 6.0L, towing package, 4x4, nicely equipped but not loaded, 29000 miles  $24995

Several others similar to the above with mileage from 25K to 36K were from $23500-$25500.

I'm wanting one of these, hopefully I can find a dealer who wants to make a deal before the year is out.

I'd really like to have one of these trucks too, but I don't know if its gonna happen.  Guess it all depends on what kind of hours I work this semester and what kind of money I get out of the current truck.  I know the interests rates are good right now, so thats a big plus.

To be honest, I'd much rather have a regular cab/long bed fairly well equipped like those listed, but I hold out almost no hope of finding one of those.  Guess I will keep looking though...

I just ran a quick search within 100 miles of my house and there were 31,  '00 2500's listed with an avg price of $22096.00

My credit union would give you 5.49% for 6 years on that truck...  unfortunatly I can't get you in my credit union...

While the Grand Prix I have now is really nice (everyone else in my family loves it), its a car.  I'm wanting to get a truck, and after test driving the 6.0L that is what I like best.  I've made up my mind that ext. cab is what I am going to go with since it'll be my only vehicle for a few years.  Problem is that none of the trucks with the 6.0L out there have the longbed behind the ext. cab, they are all in the shortbed ext. cab config.  So I guess I'm still in the same boat I've been in for a while, I'm being too picky.

Too bad you aren't in IL.  I know of at least two longbed reg. cabs with 4x4 and 6.0L sitting on the local dealer's lot.

Does appear that I am in the wrong area.  Maybe I need to move to IL to find a truck and then figure out some way to get into Shaners credit union.  ;)

I did a search within 200 miles of my area, and only found 1 regular cab 2500 Silverado.  Don't look like a bad truck though.

So wait, let me get this straight.  You go to the ford dealership to get a chevy?

I got a better deal on my Chevy at the Ford-Lincoln dealership by $2K, than the GM dealer with the same vehicle 2 blocks away.  Don't know why?  I am loyal to the brand not the dealer, so I felt no shame!  :D

For KK, I think the guys are right.  Figure about $25K, although without the exact mileage its hard to be sure -

If you are buying without a trade this is the way to do it.  Vehicles, farm machinery, you name it, if its a different brand than the dealer sells new, they want it off of their lot quick.  There also is a little "inferior product" additude, that this other brand isn't worth much.

Well, to be quite honest I wasn't really on the Ford lot looking for a used Silverado.  I just happened to run across one on there.  I was really looking for a used F350 4x4 PSD.   :notice:

But I can't argue with what Jp and DigUout are saying.  I don't care what kind of dealership I am buying from, just as long as I get a good deal on a decent truck.

The place that had the above mentioned truck is having a used vehicle sale, 4.9% interest rate on used vehicles.  Figured I better go find out more about that truck.  It has 32,xxx miles on it, and they are asking over $28,000 for it.  I just turned around and walked away when he said that price.  You could dang near buy a new one for that kind of money.  That regular cab I found on AutoTrader seems like a steal compared to this one, half the miles, more options, a longbed, lever shift transfer case, all for $8,000 less.  Might have to look into it somemore.

Guys I'm going to beat an old drum here.  I used an online service called GetAuto.com  I used them to find my truck and yes I did buy it from a Furd dealer but it was $6000.00 less than a truck I found within 100 miles of my house and only had 15,000 miles on it when I got it.  You can search by state or county and look for cars or trucks like you want them.  When I went to look at the truck I bought I stopped and looked at about 15 different dealers to see what was on the lots and I wound up with the truck I first found on the internet.  Even if it was a Furd dealer I had a good experience with them, They told me what they wanted for the truck, what they would give me for my trade and then they said it will cost this much and then I pulled out the cashiers check and title for my old truck and told them take it or leave it and started out the door, I got to the door going outside and the sales manager said "SOLD" and I said thank you very much.  I don't know if I would have gone up on my offer or not but I was going to at least drive around the block before I did.

$28K for that?  Wow, that guy has no idea the general asking price for trucks like that.  Go with the reg. cab, its what you want and not what most people want, so I'm thinking you'll be able to get a pretty good price worked out on it.
