TEMP Gauge Reading LOW

I was driving on the highway and noticed my temp gauge reading around 62C (143F), it is usually on the 100 mark (200+ F) when fully warm.

It's now reading between 60 to a little below 100, but it would stay mostly on the 60 mark, especially at higher speed. Meaning it would go back to around 60c mark If am speeding.

Coolant is full, drives normal for 2 days now, no check engine, no code except p0573 which is for the cruise control, I think I have one of the brake lights burned up...I have to check.

It looks like the ECT sensor is gone?? Is it easy to replace it? and where is it located?

Does it take longer to warm up the engine?

Maybe the thermostat is gone.

so long

When I start it in the morning or after a few hours, it takes longer time in the zero mark, but it moves up quicker than normal and if I let it idle long enough it would go close to 100c may be 80c and it stays that way if drive it slow/stop and go, but the minute I speed it goes back to around 60 and stays there. The gauge reading and the reading from the scanner is consistent, when I say 60c, it is actually on the mark below the 100 mark which is in the middle.

I remember when first noticed it on the highway, I pulled over and after the complete stop it jumped to close to 100 and swung back to the quarter mark area.

Thanks for the help

If the fans aren't running, that's classic thermostat.

Looks like a bad sensor, replaced & gauge looks okay for now....

While i was in the way to the parts store to buy thermostat, the gauge just stopped working. Temp zero!
