Climate Control Button Backlighting

Hey guys, I have a 2005 Envoy SLT and the recirc button caption, (The little U-Turn Looking Arrow) backlighting is out on the climate control panel. The orange light that shows it's been selected works ok. Is there an easy way to get to the bulb to replace it? Do the buttons pull off, or does the panel need to be removed and opened up?

Thanks for the help..

OK..Thanks. Thats a bummer...

I'm not familiar with the Envoy's interior but my 02 Silverado has the simple manual HVAC controls. Three dials; fan speed, vent position and temp. Several years ago, I opened mine up and replaced all the bulbs with blue LEDs. I actually did every panel, switch and window control except the radio. The HVAC is not the most difficult but it has many bulbs inside. The buttons remove from the inside out so if yours is similar don't try prying them off. The stock mini bulbs inside are the "wheat stalk" or "grain of rice" type (as I've heard others describe them. You can find useable replacements at mouser.com, delcity.com, allelectronics.com and sometimes even at Radio Shack. They are not terribly hard to unsolder but it takes a bit of patience to get the new one set in accurately (but I am no expert solderer by any stretch). Hope that helps.

Thank you for the help...I'm kind of swaying towards living with it...LOL

Basically what I am doing already. After 6 years of ownership, I know where and what all the buttons do, I don't need a light to show me anymore. Plus on my steering wheel the buttons are worn enough the light wouldn't help much anyway.
