So my girlfriend's jeep has had a check engine light on now since she bought it from a family member, and i have yet to get the code pulled(yeah yeah i know, i'm slacking) i'm leaning towards its the gas cap..as the family member she got it from had to put an after market one on because the factory one got stolen(yeah wtf i know)..........

anyway the current gas cap looks like it belongs on a riding lawnmower not an automobile after looking at pictures of the factory one online it seems that this cap wasen't made for this vehicle, and i've been trying to hunt down a factory gas cap, which so far i've found only after markets...now my question is does anybody know if any auto part stores carry factory mopar parts? i live near autozone, napa, bumper to bumper and so on....i'm trying to avoid going to a keep dealer and paying 50 bucks for a hunk of plastic the size of a donut

also her jeep is loud, it hisses like a snake..when i did the last oil change i found a slight leak in the exhaust pipe as in climbed down vertically from the engine bay where the pipe was welded but i'm not sure if its the culprit.....

btw its an 03 jeep liberty

After you replace the gas cap with the correct one that issue should fix itself. After a few starts the light should go off.
