What did you do with your truck/shop today

WOW that front end looks TWEAKED! Can see how out of line the front wheel is with the rears -  he's almost steering halfway to the right just to keep it straight!

 

Gotta love our government. God forbid you remove some emission devices ... but you're free to endanger yourself and the public by driving with the front end falling out of the vehicle ...  I call that, "democrat logic" .

 

 

 

 

First day as a DoD employee is done. On the way home I figured out a way to work the truck into the schedule. It had sat for 3 weeks before Friday. I think the car will be commute and truck will be in town weekend runabout.

 

Also been eyeing the Accord Sport 2.0T to replace the cobalt. Want something comfortable with extended warranty to do 40,000+ miles a year in. Costco price is about 28k

I do that in the summer. Truck stays parked unless I need to tow or haul something, and for long trips, I take the Volvo 940. Wife drives the 940 in the winter, so I only do that for 3 seasons. She gets 10 mpg more than the truck.

 

That Honda would be a fun commuter. Hear that engine is a peppy one. Great mileage to boot.

Mileage is slightly better than the Cobalt's 2.4 and it adds like 80 HP. More if I get that HONDATA tune. I have to move in August so I need the Cobalt to make it that much more. Then I can afford the down on the Accord. I wanted fun and comfort. Almost anything larger will beat the Cobalt in both. I would look at a Malibu, and I did look at a used 2016 with higher miles, until a salesman tried to pull shady shit and kept pushing me to a new Cruze LS after I repeatedly said I dont want that. I said I'm good, my car runs fine. The sales manager then got condescending and proceeded to tell me the Cruze was better than my Colbalt because it was newer and bigger. I told him there is more luxury in my 13 year old car and it still runs. His smart ass response was "Well obviously not, you came in here for a reason". So I walked out and told the salesman I am tempted to call the GM about him being a condescending asshole, then I left. Won't by another from there since the GM didn't even return my call

Unreal! What an arrogant prick that salesman was. I'd expect that here in MA, not in CA! His loss. I think you'll be better off in the long run with the Honda anyway.

 

80HP works! That's real noticeable in a full-sized, full-framed car, or truck - VERY noticeable in a smaller car. I'd get myself in alot of trouble with that.

My commute TO work is 75.3 miles. In that drive I have to climb from near sea level to over 4000 ft. Work is something like 2500 ft up. So both directions require some climbing, but going there is worse. Did not want a CVT so 2.0 it was. Wanted everything but leather, so Sport. Wouldnt have minded leather, just do not want the cost of leather and the 2.0. Priorities.

Smart choice on the transmission. I've seen nothing but trouble with CVTs once they get up there in miles. Nothing but $$$.

 

You'll save quite a bit of money over driving the truck that distance - it adds up quick!

You should be able to handily beat Costco price if you shop around. Also, take an extended test drive first. While I like my seats, the Honda seats really seem to be hit or miss, I have seen about of complaints on Honda forums, plenty others who also have back issues absolutely hate their seats after they owned it for a while. Some trims seats adjust more than others. On the other hand, those people perferred Camry seats, and Camry seats killed my back.

Dealer in town won’t come close to Costco since it is below invoice. Dealer with Costco about 80 miles away will only go to Costco which is 500 below invoice. My issue is time is running out on the cobalt. Trans issues going to work this morning and then no problems on the way home.

 DO NOT buy an extended warranty at 99% of Honda dealers. Saccuni or hyanni online will give you a great deal. I got a 7yr 100k  HondaCare with zero deductable for $900. It is basically the Honda bumper to bumper with a few extra perks(rental car reimbursement, trip interruption.)

FINALLY got round to installing my 1.5” Suspension Maxx spacers... Probably took an hour all in, and I’m over the moon. I just wanted something subtle that was a little closer to level and this is just perfect. Quality seems reasonable too for the low price. It’s really weird how strange it feels just sitting in the driver seat with the slightly different angle. Will get the alignment done tomorrow then I’m all set [emoji106]

Been having a "rollercoaster" week:

Sunday, drove to/from church, grabbed some groceries on the way home,

Monday, took the day off, had to race out to kids' high school to change a tire on daughter's Cruze, made it in time to watch my son in the HS' play that evening,

Tuesday, went looking at houses, found the house we want, got it into escrow, went to work, followed shortly after by a trip to Kaiser Urgent Care, for me, where they told me that my foot was broke,

Wednesday, Palmdale to get workman's comp going, and

Today (Thursday), another trip to DR (second opinion), NOT BROKE, and back to work.
