Volant CAI

I know the topics been beaten to death on CAI. I was looking at getting the volant because it's a closed system and looks good. I'm not to worried about the price of the different systems, I just want something that looks good and doesn't make cause the truck to run like $hit. I have read many post on people having problems with the volant and it decreasing there mpg and not running right when cold starting. I may end up getting a tune one day but in the meantime just want something that sounds good and won't have any negative effects on the truck. I'm not sure if there have been any changes to the new volant systems all the bad post I read were from a coupe years back, I am hoping bbp has there testing done this week so I can see what numbers the different systems are running.

Wait for the blackbear results. Cai brand is one you might want to look at they just came out with them for the trucks

I have the Volant kit and also had cold start issues. I changed all the Volant fittings to include the vacuum hose and have been fine ever since. The supplied hose isn't very long and tends to kink causing the start up problem. The rubber connection at the throttle body was also junk. Changed them all out and runs great now.

Ya cold air inductions kit looks pretty nice! Now let's see how it stacks up against the other brands.

I am running it and dont think it hurt my MPG. I put an exhaust on it at the same time so it is hard to say but the combination of the two is getting my about +1 MPG overall on average. Just got a tune installed so I will have to see what ti does now.

Ya, that vacuum hose was crap. Cheap rubber tube + engine heat + a year or two = useless I have a vinyl tube on there now with hose fittings but want to get a silicone tube one of these days - doesnt help but that the sizes at both ends are different.

I agree with Ryan, wait for the results from BB if you can.

I haven't had any problems with mine, but I'm thoroughly unimpressed. I will likely never buy another CAI system, as I just don't see the rewards vs. the cost.

I have a Volant CAI kit that I moved from my 2009 to a 2011. Never had an issue with the 09, but it throws rich codes once in awhile in this 2011. I did put a new rubber on the throttle body, but perhaps I need a new one at the airbox also? Hmmmmm......

Interesting that yours is running rich. According to the BlackBear test, that makes sense since the A/F ratio goes down with the Volant. But on my 09, it seemed to be running to lean - i was getting the crackling sound at WOT (now fixed with a BBP tune). Thought it might have been the fact that the test was on an 08 and in 09 they apparently changed the MAF sensor but maybe not.
