Radio issues

I have the factory six disc am/fm/xm radio in my 2004 GMC sierra SLT and can not get sound out of it. The door chimes don't work either. The radio goes through all stations, loads cd's just no sound. any idea what might be wrong?

The radio wansn't the issue it was the Bose amp! Unless the Bose amp is also known as HU, wrong diagnosis on this forum!

HU is head unit. And yea the forum diagnosed wrong. You did not mention you had bose. If it was the non bose, which people probably assumed, the head unit would be the cause

You're due a total refund of what you paid for the diagnosis. Oh wait, you paid nothing! Time to move on.

You know one can never post enough info! It all worked out for the best anyway. Now I will move on to my mechanical questions.

I dont have open door chimes or low fuel chimes. My truck has an aftermarket kenwood HU and speakers installed by the previous (1st) owner. Should I have these noises from stock? I can say I really dont mind at all.

Those sounds came through the factory sound system. Unless the appropriate adapter and external speaker was installed you won't have them. He obviously didn't care about losing them either.
