Looking to buy an OBD scanner

I have been thinking about buying an OBD scanner for my truck. It's a 2001 Sierra Z71 SLE, 4x4, 5.3 liter engine, auto tranny with 140,000+ miles. What should I look for and where?

I cant really tell you what to look for locally, but most auto part stores should carry something. Watch for sales. If you have an Android phone, there is an app that will pair with a $20 ODBII adapter that lets you scan and clear codes. Its called Torque. Very handy.

I just purchased one of the bluetooth OBD II devices from eBay and downloaded the "torque" app.....I'm impressed to say the least.

I just made a lot of research for lucky you.. I went cheap and bought a Cen-Tech 60794 which is the same as the Autel MS609, well they say you get what you pay for

and it's true. Was getting wrong trouble indications, I call tech support and they said "We don't know what to tell you" So I packed my Cen-Tech and returned it to Harbor Freight. From my research I had two top selections, the Innova 3160d and the Actron CP9680, I purchased the Actron based on it's reviews functions and ultimately

price, around $50.00 less than the Innova 3160. Words of advise get a scanner the will do your ABS system , if you have Stabilitytrak you are going to need it.

I have the MAC Tools Task Mobile smartphone Bluetooth scanner

. $270 all together (the device is $200, the ABS and Airbag capabilities are $70 extra) and you just download the app to your smartphone. Live data, graphs data, does monitor readiness, etc.
