DarylNHT and Canadian, do you guys simply deal with it? Have you ever tried to get it fixed? Do you have tips for coping? :happysad:

Yup I just deal with it. I've been told by multiple people that whatever the dealer tries to do to fix it never works so I don't even waste my time trying to get them to fix it. I'm guessing it's one of the problems mentioned above or both, but the dealer wouldn't listen to that or have any idea how to fix it. Still a shame that GM dropped the ball with this...

I have to agree GM has dropped the ball, too bad I had my boss switch his fleet from Ford's to GM's.

He is now switching back to Ford's. I don't know if I will get to trade my truck in this year but I don't want to keep it anymore.

I'm giving them another chance next week -- I'm confident I can reproduce the problem well. However, from a comment the service mgr made, if all the parts appear in working order, they can't correct the issue. Obviously they won't do anything but replace in kind, which may not fix it. I've been perusing the Ford site quite a bit lately. This is a major frustration for me.

That's just code for they don't know how to fix it. You would think that after the lawsuit GM had slapped on them for this same problem that they would try a little harder to fix it. Then when they have to file bankruptcy there scratching their head trying to figure out why.

What lawsuit?

Edit - I've found a couple articles now. How in the hell could the service mgr say he's never heard of this issue?

Well I dropped my truck off this morning and they couldn't get it to do it so they are just going to replace the pump, as for my rear seat there was a broken clip.Should be fixed for tomorrow.

I took mine back again today, as requested by the service mgr about 10 days ago. He was in the office as I was dropping it off.

"You had some noisy power steering, right," he recalled.

"No, sir, an absence of power steering," I said

"Give him your keys and we'll take a look since the consultant was able to recreate your issue a few days ago. This is not something we've ever heard of."

"I've found several other cases of this issue with a 5-minute Google search," I stated.

"Well, ya know, there may not be a way to fix, but we'll do our best," he comforted me with a sly grin.

My truck is in good hands!

I'm 29, bought the truck new when I was 27 -- I'll be buying *a few* more cars and trucks in my life, Lord willing. My wife and I both have graduate degrees. I am smart enough to know that this is my last GM vehicle, if the level of customer support doesn't get better.

I know how you feel, the wife wants to trade the truck in for a Ford Edge but with how the price on a 1 year old truck is in the toliet it's not going to happen for a bit.

This is the kind of service to expect from Government Motors and, soon, Government Health Care. No need to keep customers happy when you have an unlimited revenue stream from John Q. Taxpayer.

Well, I didn't have the problem until I read this thread a few days ago. You guys jinxed me.

Both times it happened in warm temps during a quick shift from D to R, and since I was getting ready to back into a parking space, I was looking everywhere but the dashboard. The loss was only for about 1 second, and even though there was no vibration, I would suspect it was caused by a momentary drop in engine rpm from the quick shift. I usually pause momentarily in N when shifting between D and R.

Sounds like he already knows from experience.

"Normal operating characteristic of the vehicle, You're pump is putting out correct pressure, so everything is fine."

Yep. This is why I never bother with trying to get the dealer to fix it. I've heard that line in a round about way so many times about this problem that I figured I would be told the same thing.
