I would not have seen that one.... the interceptors have been in felt slow even in chase.

I think California HP are getting the new explorers. The Taurus, Charger, and Caprice don't offer the payload they want

The Crown Vic. Interceptor runs circles around both of them.

In what way? The Crown Vic was a slow, horrible handling pig of a car. The only thing it had going for it was durability/reliability and it sounds as though Ford has really worked to make these new ones up to snuff, though I'd still want RWD myself- the Caprice or Charger. MSP has a bunch of Chargers and they look nice in the MSP-specific blue. The MSP Vehicle Evaluation is supposed to be the bible for police car specs and they can be viewed here:

I have not been in a Crown Vic.police package car that was slow or poor handling, ever. It is just my personal pref. when having to pick which vehicle to drive. The others don't seem as good or as fast. I also like the RWD much better.

The Chargers we have a fun to drive, but I don't care for them much.

Compare the 2013 report with the 2011 one when they last tested the Crown Vic. The CV did 0-60 in over 9 seconds, the Caprice in about 6 seconds and the EcoBoost Taurus in under six seconds. The Crown Vic is a turd, it just sounds quick.

if I remember correctly, CHP went ON RECORD saying they'll use Crown Vics until they pretty much turn to Dust.

They are, but I have friends and family in LE here. They dont want to give up the Crown Vics, but I read a report and testing stating ehen they upgrade it will be the Explorer's. On my commute to school I see a lot of CHP Tahoes, Expeditions, Silvy 2500HD's and Ram 2500's

A few months ago there was an article about how the CHP went with the SUV Interceptor because the Taurus version didn't have the ability to carry all their gear safely (GVWR was too low). I know people love tradition and whatnot but the Crown Vic is pathetically outdated now, Ford was just lucky that no one had a serious contender for so long.

I need to ask my brother on what the Kern County Sheriff's Office went with. (he's a KCSO Deputy) I showed the Caprice PPV back in 2010, and he liked the way it looked.

Really? My uncle is a Commander with the KCSO. He is retiring in a few days though

Agreed. We are changing our fleet to Tahoes.
