2004 Yukon Water Pump replacement

Hi,

My '04 Yukon is leaking coolant, and needs a new water pump. I called the local GM dealer to get "ballpark" pricing on replacement. The cost for the water pump replacement is $560. He added that if I wanted to replace the hoses, thermostat and flush the system, the cost is another $550. That sounds high for just simple additional service added on top of already having the front of the engine disassembled for water pump replacement. I did specifically ask if that was the cost even if they were already in there doing the water pump, and since putting on new hoses really didn't require anything more than going over to the parts counter.

Does anyone have insight as to whether $1210 for water pump replacement, new hoses, thermostat and system flush is the going rate, or maybe the service writer made an error?

Thanks

Dang if you are at all mechanically incline, I'd do all this yourself. Save yourself some money. $1210 seems pricey to me.

Ask them to throw in some KY, you're gonna need it.

Do it yourself.

This job is definitely able to be completed, and completed well mind you, by yourself should you desire to do it.

Start looking into the logistics. Ask when you have a question.
