2012 1500 hard steering

Has anybody had a problem with hard steering at slow speed, like a turn into parking space, on 2012 1500, with 6k miles? Of course the dealer cannot duplicate the problem and "nobody in the world" has the same problem. The manager has a look out for bulletins. It's definitely an intermittent deal but it's there, it's like the power steering just damn near goes away.

no sir, and i'm in and out of silverado's all day at work in parking lot situations and have never had this issue... only with older diesel models that are half worn out

Thanks for the reply. I had a 2004 with 212,000 on the o.d. and never a problem with the steering.

I just swapped the OE power sterring fluid with the Lucas power steering fluid so we'll see if that helps that parking lot cutout that I get occasionally with my 11....I'll followup on this thread later to let everyone know if it did anything...

Is it 4WD? Mine binds up if I turn the wheels to stop, but that is normal on 4WD or AWD trucks as my 2005 Denali does that too. My truck is 2012 reg cab LS 4WD with 5.3l.

2012 Sierra 1500...............I noticed mine also feels a little heavy when maneuvering at slow speeds, similar to the sensation of low tire psi. I seriously doubt if anything is wrong, just the nature of it.

I know exactly what hes talking about if moving at idle speed and trying to quickly swing into a parking spot the PS pump does not produce enough volume and the rack is over running it. Normal on all the new silverados with rack and pinion steering

I had an issue with my steering today that kinda freaked me out. I was coasting downhill going about 25-30 and had to make a sharp turn near the bottom. As I approached the bend, I applied the brakes and started to turn. My steering felt like it was binding up. I did manage to make the turn, but I felt a single thump like vibration through the steering wheel as I turned. It went away and I felt it again later down the road.

This is on a new 2012 Sierra with less than 200 miles.

well after a couple of weeks, it has helped a little-don't seem to notice it as much but it still is doing it on occasion...

I have a 2012 silverado 4wd with 13,000 miles.. This just happened to me this morning: I was driving slowly turning into a parking space and my steering locked up...then released, scary w/ family in truck this could be bad. Just bought this truck from dealer 2 weeks ago and have been having nothing but problems with it and I have had it! ....Im taking it back tomorrow. What did you find out about your problem?
