Putting a heated seat kit in a 2007 silverado new body style. The seat belts retracted, how do I release them? They are locked and to short to reinstall. they will not move any longer? Thanks for your time

Please help, the belts were fine till I tried the heater install. Is there a way to release the latch on the belts so they can be used again? If it were not for the economic times I would of paid my local shop to do the install. They wanted one hundred more than msp and one hour more than the flat rate for the install. They want a full hour to do the reflash, on here I have read lot of people paying thirty dollars, not one hundred. Pease could someone give me some insight?

I unpluged the electric plug. unbolted the belts to remove the seats, and they retracted beyond the point of being able to reinstall. Did not hear any igniter noise and do not think they got activated? Can they be takin apart and released? If you pull on them you can feel them move slightly and then catch the locking dog?The one I messed with the most keep getting shorter so I do not thing they are frozen at a fixed point. What do I do Replace the whole unit or can they be rebilt. Working with limmited funds, thats why I bought used and am trying to do things myself. Not trying to play the woo is me card just trying to find out how to get past this situation. Thanks for your time any more responces????

I believe there was a write up, or another posting about someone with rear seat belts retracted when they removed the seat for maintenance or installation of stereo equipment.

If I recall, they were able to unlock the mechanism with a small screwdriver.

Thanks for the responces. I had to remove the top, ceiling bolt which made it possible for me to put the floor bolt back in as soon as I did this the retractor released its self. I was suffering some high anxiaty before this. It had nothing to do with hooking up power,as no power was hooked up just rebolting to floor. Again thanks for the responces.
