Dakar Rally

I don't know how many of you have the Speed Channel out there but they've been showing Dakar Rally highlights for about a week and a half now and it is still the coolest race I have ever seen.  I remembered seeing parts of it last year but never caught the name of the rally.  It is, by far, the sweetest off-road experience ever, and I could guarantee you that (if I had the money to take my truck) I would go in a heart-beat and show off in front of the all the import cars.  They'd probably call me a stupid American and let the air out of my tires.  Oh well....anyone else seen this rally??  If so, ain't it bad-a$$?

That is the ultimate off-raod race. It used to be called "The Paris to Dakar Rally". It began in Paris, France and everyone raced to Dakar, Senegal. I think it was changed due to terrorists and because Algeria didn't want anyone racing through their country.

I went to Dakar twice, but unfortunately, not at race time.

Yeah, either last year or 2  years ago a bunch of the competitors got shot at by guerrilla soldiers (or whatever they're called).

I used to watch it, but got fed up with the coverage last year  and stopped. Plus, all those Mitsubishi Monteros made me sick. :smash:

But that schlesser buggy is awesome looking.

I would've liked it a #### of a lot better if they showed more  of those BIG trucks. Now those are badass.
