03 Z71 - Leveling

I want to level my truck. I do not want to raise it , aka. lift the body on the nominal 3", 6" lifts etc. and only want to level the trucks' stance or profile verses the slightly higher rear to front ratio that the truck came with.

Need advice from some of you experts on what I need to have done. I.e. raise the front to align body/frame level with rear or, lower rear to align body/frame with front?

I do not want to impact the OE suspension or get too elaborate on this process or the exchange of parts. Just want the truck to sit level. (e.g. as a carpenter's level would read if placed upon the bed rails).

UPDATE: 01/17/03 - Some folks, fellow enthusiast, etc. have advised me that Belltech offers a set of shackles that will replace OE and lower the rear @ the leaf spring X 2". This about the drop I think I want to align/level the truck's stance. If I do this, would the ride be effected, e.g. do I need to replace the shocks to maintain the semi-soft ride (empty bed) that the truck presently has?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated and considered.

Well, you can always tighten the torsion bars some.  This will raise the front end, although it may stiffen the ride some.  Thats just the price to pay for your truck looking like a truck.  Also, you can replace the torsion bar keys with the Ford keys.  This will allow you to go higher than the stock keys.  Either way, you will need to have the vehicle re-aligned.  Good luck, and for further assistance, do a search on the forum for torsion bars or Ford keys. That should get you some past threads on this very same subject.

I just cranked my bars the other day.  Excellent results for 5 minutes of work. The full write up is on my website listed below, as well as pictures.

I have to get the measurements from home and post them but I got just over an inch out of it.  It rides firmer but still completely acceptable.
