Good item. Not much not to love! The Android and Apple tablets seem solid. I don't have as high of an opinion about the Windows based tabs. Not yet anyway.

I got a HP touchpad for Christmas. Yeah I know they don't make them anymore and the app catalogue is crappy but I'm gonna crack it and install android software when I get time.

Maybe not with windows 8 as it is now but I think the windows tablets have the potential to make the ipad look like a toy business wise. The next few years may really change tablets. Then again I could be wrong.

Only really handled an ipad 3, it's a pretty impressive machine.

I have a work issued Motorola xyboard that I use daily at work. Just got each of my kids a Samsung Tab 2.0 for Christmas. They love them. I've played with them a little and like them too. I thought about getting them iPads but I like the Android platform better. I don't think there is anything wrong with iPads (i have an iPod touch and my wife has a work issued iPad), their just not my preference.

BlackBerry has the Playbook tablet. They don't have the app catalog of iOS and Android, but its a pretty capable device :)

And actually, BlackBerry is already integrated into a lot of cars. BB10, their new OS is built on QNX. A platform that runs a lot automotive ent systems. Going forward they've got a good foot already in the door in the auto industry.

Wow. QNX. There is a blast from the (not so distant) past. Excellent OS. I have seen it run for literally for years w/o needing a reboot/restart/whatever. I still have my developers kit here somewhere.

GF seems to really enjoy the Nexus 7 I got her. I use an Android based (ICS) Acer tablet for light emails, internet stuff, and talking to the OBDII in the vehicles. Working on taking an existing Android tablet (another Acer) to Linux. Looks like the Ubuntu peeps are making more headway than me.

I bought a HP Touchpad back during the fire sale. Use it for reading books and comics as well as general web browsing. Since putting Android on it I think I've booted into WebOS maybe a dozen times in the last year or so. The Android community still hasn't given up on it and have even put out some stable every day useable Jellybean roms. Heck there are even linux OS variations being worked on for the Touchpad. I still can't get used to touch screens on either my phone or my touchpad (touchdroid?) which makes me miss keyboard and mouse all the time when I need to type something out. The next generation of tablets running Win8 will be interesting to check out. If I moved away from Android it would be a windows tablet/phone combo to match my desktop.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811480 Is what I'm running and personally I have no problems. Others seem to but as I use my devices for very basic needs I rarely have many problems at all. I don't think CM is supporting the TP anymore so this is a cm10 base made compatible/ported to the TP and some extras that the devs throw in. I could be wrong though.

EEE Transformer?

I have a bluetooth full size (or nearly full size) keyboard I use with the tablets. Pretty much takes the place of a laptop for me. Have not booted the laptop up in over a year, except to let it update itself. Thats personal, work is another matter. Still using notebook when in the field.

Was looking something else up and noticed I was wrong, I dont think the EEE Transformer is what you are looking for.
