Thinking about getting another truck

Isn't the "spider" throttle body/injector unit on the 350s of 1998 era a concern after high mileage/years?

I never had any problem with mine but I sold it with only 50,000 miles on it.

The spider always was and still is a problem..... thus GM replaced it with an assembly that gave you 8 little multi-tech injectors instead of poppets. It can be had pretty cheap. Intake gaskets were junk because the assembly was plastic.... any steel or aluminum gaskets fix that. The heads like to crack regardless of being overheated or not but it's hit or miss. Thin casting with induction hardened cast and no actual pressed in valve seats do that. Some of the 906's have an exhaust seat though. I have seen quite a few spin rod bearings too..... The 880 Vortec block is similar to the TBI 1 piece blocks that had roller provision ( not all 1 piece rear main blocks do) but not identical.

You might get a good one that runs great forever or a POS that blows up immediately...... It's just like anything else.
